Folk songs choir in Belarus and Poland
The Choir of E. Mikeladze Central Music School traveled to Belarus and Poland in May 16-28. In May 16-21 the choir participated in the “Paparac Kvetka International Youth and Student Choir Forum” where it was awarded with the nomination of “Pearl”. As well as the choir director was awarded with the nomination of the “Best Conductor of the Festival”. Choir performances were attended by the Ambassador of Georgia in Belarus Mr. Valeri Kvaratskhelia with other representatives from the embassy as well as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Belarus Mr. Tomas Pernicky (active supporter of the choir, he was the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Georgia in 2014-2018). Also, the concerts were attended by other Georgian and Belarus friends. In May 22-26 the choir took part in Sopot International Choral Festival - “Mundus Cantat”. Within the festival choir had a solo concert in the city of Gdansk and a performance for children with disabilities. The choir was awarded with silver certificates in folk and church music categories and the special financial award of 1000 PLN for presenting the national culture. On May 27 the choir arrived back to Minsk and opened the official reception of the Embassy of Georgia in Belarus with the national anthems of Georgia and Belarus. The reception was dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia. Besides, the choir performed traditional folk songs too. Also, during the event the audience had opportunity to enjoy the concert of the famous Georgian jazz singer Maia Baratashvili and the performance of the local Georgian choreographic ensemble - “Mziuri Sakartvelo”.
