String Chamber Orchestra
String Chamber Orchestra of the E. Mikeladze Central Music School has been functioning more than decades. It was established under E. Mikeladze College of Music at 1992. At this period Mikeladze Chamber Orchestra, named “New Generation” was only Children Chamber Orchestra in Georgia having high acclaim for its performance in number of concerts locally and internationally.
During 1992-2006, Nukri (Petre) Davitashvili, conductor and cello class teacher was a maestro of “New Generation” orchestra.
The orchestra was staffed by the best and selected students of the school, which was the major reason of the high quality of the orchestra and success as in Georgia so abroad.
The school orchestra under Nukri Davitashvili was invited triple times (1995, 1997, 2002) by Waldorf School Symphonic Orchestra in Saarbrucken town, (Germany) for joint concerts. Waldorf school orchestra also visited Tbilisi in 1994, 1996, 1999 with concerts in Tbilisi.
Chamber orchestra actively participated in number of events including charity concerts.
Since 2005, George Shilakadze leads the chamber orchestra, which obtained remarkable success in the International Young Orchestras’ Festival in Murcia Town, Spain. It became a laureate under Maestro Shilakadze. The Orchestra continues its performance successfully today and conducts concerts at various events. The orchestra’s repertoire consists of J.S.Bach, G.F.Hendel, A.Vivaldi, A.Corelli, W.A.Mozart, A.Dvorjak, ,A. Piazzolla, S. Tsintsadze and V.Azarashvili compositions. Chamber Orchestra of Mikeladze School has given various concerts in different Concert Halls of Tbilisi: Recital Hall of Tbilisi Conservatoire, Hall of Cultural Center “Muza” and GeorgiaNationalMusicCenter.
